Apple does press conference, everybody speculates

Apple is doing a press conference at 1pm EST today. This is odd, as Apple doesn’t do this too often. The rumor is they will be addressing the iPhone 4 reception issues that have made all the headlines in the States. The hope, among us Canucks, is for an international release date.

I’d be surprised to see a full recall, but I think we will see some kind of acknowledgment. I suspect a soft recall, inviting those who are having reception issues (as it’s not everyone) to exchange their phones, as Apple will say they think they’ve solved it with a new batch of iPhones.

John Gruber, of Daring Fireball, said his Spidey Sense was tingling that there was something bigger afoot. I’d like to believe he’s right, but I don’t know what that would be. Could be they will begin selling it unlocked through their stores, allow people to get around AT&T easier in the States, as they have here. Doesn’t make that big a difference, since AT&T’s network is the only one that can run it in the States.

Come on Apple, hurry up with that international release! I’m eager for that HD camera!

Either way, we’ll see around 1pm today.

Not really the examples I’d have chosen, but a solid foundation of how it can be used. Remote work is the bigger possibility for me.

Smoking Apples

You ever come across a site and think “How was I not already reading this?”

This site, Smoking Apples, gave me that feeling. Beautifully designed, talking about Apple tech and design. Already sent several of the articles off it to Instapaper. Which, coincidentally, I plan to write about soon.
